Just A Fast Fact

LPASC: Did you know that the Greenville/Spartanburg area donates more money to political candidates than any other area in South Carolina? Did you know that 79.7% of the money donated to political campaigns in South Carolina goes to the Republicans? Did you know that Nelsom-Mullins et al was the #1 Contributor? Did you know that Advance America was the #2 Contributor?

Why Don't We Have National Healthcare?

LPASC: In The Greenville News, one of the stories on the front page today was that 1.3 million people, most of them in the South, lost their health insurance, either from losing their job, or their employer has dropped coverage because of increasing health costs.

So what are the alternatives when your employer tells you that they can no longer afford the premiums on your healthcare? How expensive is it to cover yourself and your family if you lose your health insurance at work? Plenty expensive. It is so expensive, that most people can’t afford it. They can’t afford to get sick either.

Why hasn’t the government done something about the spiraling cost of healthcare in the United States? There are a few answers to this question, all of them you won’t really like. The first answer is that both the Republicans and Democrats are bankrolled by the American Medical Association, The Pharmaceutical companies, and other medical special interest groups. National healthcare would be really bad for business. Besides the medical establishment, lawyers that make a living from medical malpractice suits would be hard pressed to support a National Healthcare System where lawsuits wouldn’t run rampant. There are so many groups that donate to your so-called “representatives” in Washington, that until this country has true campaign reform, you will NEVER see a program of National Healthcare.

The political parties (both of them) cover this topic with smoke and mirrors so that their true bosses can keep benefiting from our medical care system as it is. The politicians tell us that it will raise our taxes and put another cog in the wheel of “big government”. Don’t believe it for a minute. Actually, the taxes that we pay in our property taxes would really go down. Built into all property tax, is health care that the local governments must pay for hospitals that accept indigent people. The county or parish that you live in, pays this money to healthcare providers from your property taxes, and that is coming from your pocket. Drug costs would also lower as the government started negotiating for a good price that they would pay for buying in bulk as the main healthcare provider. This is how it is done in most other industrial nations. The premise behind it, is that the premiums that people pay, offset the actual cost of providing the medical care, much like insurance companies operate today. The government could do much better than the insurance companies, because healthcare costs would actually come down as the government becomes the main provider. The medical lobbies don’t like this idea, and they make sure that your congressman is well paid for not providing medical insurance to Americans. Do you want to know how much they pay you government representatives? Go to opensecrets.org and find out for yourselves.

I tell everyone what’s going on, so that people that read these articles can join with The Liberal Party of America and tell the Congress that we are sick and tired of the status quo. Write you representatives and tell them that you want a system of National Healthcare like other industrial nations have. Tell them that you want your family members to be able to see a doctor when they are sick or they need a check-up. Health care should not be just for the wealthy. Just because some people aren’t rich, doesn’t mean that they don’t work hard for their money! Unless you demand that they do something to provide health care to everyone, they will not do it! Did you know that Cuba of all places has one of the best healthcare systems in the world? How come the Cuban people have what our government can’t provide for us? It's because your government is run by corporate and special interest groups. If the medical profession could make more money by the government providing health care, you can bet we would have it! Don’t be fooled by these politicians. Tell them you know what’s going on, and join The Liberal Party of America. Another thing I want to tell you is that I don't make this stuff up.

Who Runs The Democrats and Republicans?

LPASC: I was talking to a couple of guys that I work with this morning, and as usual, we got on the subject of politics. (It seems like I always get on that subject!) They asked me why I just don’t become a Democrat. I told them that the Democrats, even though they look and sound like liberals, are really more like the Republicans. This is a recent thing, it wasn’t always like this.

The reason that the two political parties, The Republicans and The Democrats are so much the same, is that they both work for the same boss. You might think I’m talking about the people, but I’m not. I wish I were, and then we wouldn’t have a need for another party. I’m talking about corporations and special-interest groups. The reason for this, is because it takes a lot of money to run a political campaign these days. It takes a lot of money just to get people to listen to you! As you can see, The Liberal Party doesn’t have a lot of money. This money has to come from somewhere, where does it come from?

It comes from the pharmaceutical companies. It comes from the energy and oil companies. It comes from the unions and teachers and police and firefighter associations. Some of it comes from individual people like you, but not much. Most of the money comes from corporations and special interest groups. You can see it for yourself on a site called Open Secrets. You can click here, or on the link to the right of this article, or go to www.opensecrets.org. By law, it is public knowledge who gives what to whom. The politicians in Washington don’t really want you to know, so don’t let on that it was me who told you where to find out! (only kidding) Check it for yourself. Go see who is REALLY running this country! I know you believe that it says WE THE PEOPLE, but now it should say WE THE CORPORATIONS AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS. That’s the reason that The Liberal Party of America doesn’t play well with Democrats. We certainly don’t play well with Republicans, we can’t even agree with them!

Well enough for now. I’ll write more later.

Tim

What I've Noticed About South Carolina

LPASC: I’ve lived in South Carolina since April of this year. So far, I have my SC Drivers License, my voter registration, and I should be closing on my home early next year. I like South Carolina. I like the people here, and I absolutely love the scenery. One thing I have noticed is that there are flowering plants throughout the spring and summer. There has not been a day in which I have failed to see something blooming. Yes South Carolina is a wonderful place to live. The people are very friendly, and the weather is very mild. Right now, if I still lived in Florida, I would be boarding my windows in preparation for another hurricane. I’m really glad that I’m here.

The one thing that I find amusing and at the same time puzzling, is how many beat up cars, with blue collar workers inside, all dirty, with a bandana wrapped around their heads to keep the sweat off their eyes, driving around with a Bush sticker on their bumper. I knew that South Carolina is a “Red” state, mostly voting Republican, but what I didn’t really expect, was that hard working people that live from paycheck to paycheck, would be voting republican.

Call me a naive, and say that I just don’t know how things work, but I always thought that the republicans took care of the rich people. I know that in Broward County, and in Dade county Florida, and many places that I have lived in, where there was a large percentage of working class people like myself, almost all of the time, they voted democrat. I know for a fact that republicans don’t like unions, and 99% of the time they will stand up for corporations, and not the worker, so what gives in South Carolina? Do your republican elected officials stand up for the working class families here, or do they cater to the rich and powerful like they do in other places? Somehow, I think that the republican’s have got the people buffaloed around here. I really doubt that they are any different here than they are anywhere else.

If I could, I would like to explain something about the republican’s. They like to portray liberals as soft on defense and as people that run away from a fight. They have been pretty successful with this in other places. Don’t believe it. Just because liberals are slower to use force, doesn’t mean that when we use it, that we don’t use it well. Teddy Roosevelt, a great liberal President from the 19th Century, said “Walk softly, but carry a big stick”. That is good advice. To go flying into combat at the drop of a hat, ill-prepared, and not willing to go the distance, is what republicans have been famous for since they first became a political party. The republican’s were the party of Abraham Lincoln. When Lincoln started the civil war, he was a lot like most republicans of today. He really didn’t expect any resistance from the Confederate States, and when he got it, he almost lost the war. We see that with President Bush. He thought that the war in Iraq would be a cakewalk. He was sure surprised. His own Generals told him to go big or stay at home. He didn’t listen. He still won’t. We need more troops, and better armed troops if we intend to get the terrorists out of Iraq, and bring peace to that region.

We should have understood what Teddy Roosevelt meant by “walking softly and carrying a big stick.” Instead we crowed loudly and didn’t go in there to win. After all this time, we are no better off than we were at the beginning. Instead of Hussein, who didn’t like Osama Bin Laden either, we have thousands of terrorists that left Afghanistan, and went to Iraq. When will we correct this mistake? I believe that when we vote democrat, we will change things.

Well anyway, I’m glad to be here, and you’ll be hearing more from me and others from the liberal side.

Take Care,
Tim
